The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Columbia University, Robert N Butler Columbia Aging Center is seeking a Graduate Student-Level Research Assistant to assist the Principal Investigator and Project Director with day-to-day tasks for multiple concurrent research projects of the Aiello Research Group.

The Aiello Research Group seeks to identify the interaction and influence of social and biological factors on long-term health outcomes, including the effect of socioeconomic position, stress and infection on chronic disease and mental health outcomes. We also investigate preventive measures for reducing infectious disease transmission in the community setting with a focus on non-pharmaceutical interventions. We aim to reduce social disparities in infection, chronic disease, and mental health by conducting integrative research across areas such as epidemiology, gerontology, sociology, infectious diseases, immunology, and laboratory research.

Responsibilities



  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist with media and content development for study website
  • Assist with literature reviews for grant proposals
  • Assist with presentation formatting as needed
  • Maintain spreadsheets for tracking ongoing project activities and deadlines
  • Assist with Manuscript writing Help with ARG Survey and Laboratory data transfers including organization of files and datasets
  • Update project codebooks
  • Create and manage a tracker for all previous, current, and future data requests
  • Collaborate on statistical-related analysis for scientific presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications
  • Produce tables and figures based on study results
  • Perform data auditing across multiple projects and assist with quality control
  • Create datasets for new projects and integrate new variables with existing datasets as needed
  • Assist with the development of manuscripts and grant proposals, including performing literature reviews and running preliminary analysis
  • Assist with other research related tasks including IRBs, MTAs, DUAs, and progress reports
  • Take initiative to acquire new statistical and/or programming skills as needed


Minimum Qualifications



  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field.
