THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is currently seeking a passionate and highly qualified Social Worker to join our dedicated team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in helping inmates at SCI Camp Hill successfully reintegrate into society. Your work will involve developing, implementing, and coordinating social work and case management services to address the unique needs and challenges of inmates. You will work closely with DOC staff and community organizations to develop and coordinate social service programs that support inmates and their families. Your role will also include providing guidance, crisis management, and counseling services to inmates, as well as motivating and assisting them in reaching their full potential and improving their overall well-being. In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and reports, participating in parole planning, and assisting with reentry services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (commonwealth titles) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or
  • Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor's degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

  • You must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
