DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in a comprehensive 12-month training program within the District Bridge Inspection Unit, where you will support a bridge inspection team leader in executing various technical tasks related to the assessment of bridges and other structures. Your responsibilities will include conducting safety inspections of existing bridges, evaluating structural elements such as foundations and supports, and identifying potential issues like damage and corrosion. You will document the condition of bridge components, prepare detailed reports on your findings, and assist in specialized inspections, including underwater evaluations. Additionally, you will maintain accurate inspection records, manage equipment, and ensure compliance with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) documentation for state-owned structures. Effective communication with stakeholders, including government agencies and the public, will be vital for successful project execution, as you compile photographs, review sketches, and prepare inspection summaries while tracking progress and quality control throughout the inspection process. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate degree in surveying, drafting, designing, civil, or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
