Job Overview

The Director, Content & Digital Platforms brings a passion for storytelling and a strong digital-first mindset to the Macy's, Inc. Corporate Communications team. They lead the development of Macy's, Inc.'s editorial calendar, produce engaging short-form video and written content for corporate social channels, and drive colleague-facing digital communications. Using a range of mediums and creative tactics, the Director informs and inspires both internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, thinks proactively and progressively, and demonstrates inclusive leadership. While retail or fashion experience is a plus, it is not required.

This hybrid role is based in New York City and reports to the Senior Director, Enterprise Communications.

What You Will Do



  • Partner with colleagues across the Macy's, Inc. Corporate Communications team to develop and maintain an editorial calendar that aligns with key strategic initiatives, colleague engagement efforts, and major promotional moments.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of content for Macy's, Inc.'s social media channels (Instagram and LinkedIn), including both organic and paid approaches, with a focus on visual, B2B storytelling. Oversee third-party agency resources as needed.
  • Draft and produce content for a variety of internal and external channels-including a weekly newsletter digest-leveraging compelling imagery, short-form video, creative copywriting, and attention-grabbing headlines.
  • Maintain and enhance the corporate intranet, applying a digital-first mindset to increase accessibility, usability, and engagement among Macy's 80,000+ colleagues.
  • Build and manage a corporate communications dashboard to measure ROI and effectiveness of internal and external communications tools.
  • Provide support on company-wide initiatives and special projects to help drive company culture.
  • Serve as a strong people leader, focused on the growth and development of one direct report.
  • Ensure all content adheres to Macy's brand standards for voice, tone, and visual identity.
  • Promote a positive team culture grounded in engagement, collaboration, respect, and recognition.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.


Skills You Will Need

Editorial Strategy & Storytelling - Expertise in building and maintaining editorial calendars that align with strategic initiatives, colleague engagement, and promotional moments.

Social Media Management - Deep experience in leading organic and paid strategies for corporate social platforms (Instagram and LinkedIn), with a focus on B2B visual storytelling.

Content Creation & Copywriting - Skilled in producing compelling multimedia content-including short-form video, creative copy, and click-worthy headlines-across internal and external channels.

Digital Platform Management - Strong digital-first mindset with experience enhancing and maintaining intranet platforms to boost accessibility, usability, and engagement.

Analytics & Performance Tracking - Proficiency in building dashboards and analyzing communications metrics to measure effectiveness and ROI.

People Leadership - Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor, and lead high-performing team members with a focus on collaboration, growth, and accountability.

Brand & Visual Identity - Strong understanding of maintaining consistency in tone, voice, and visual style across all content and platforms.

Internal Communications - Adept at supporting company-wide initiatives and events, including leadership meetings, executive communications, and cultural programming.

Organizational Agility - Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, toggling between multiple projects and shifting priorities with minimal supervision.

Strategic Influence - Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive communications initiatives across complex organizational structures.

Relationship Building - Natural collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, able to build trust and credibility across all levels of the organization.

Creative Tools & Design - Bonus proficiency in graphic design and visual tools to support storytelling and elevate content quality.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, public relations or agency, focused on digital storytelling and social media.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
