Security Operations Training Supervisor - CMH Security - Days

The Security Training Operations Supervisor provides Training and Security services to the VCU Health System hospitals, and clinics, courteously assisting visitors, patients, and Team members by enforcing rules and regulations. The Security Training Operations Supervisor is also responsible for the coordination, delivery, maintenance, and oversight of all internal departmental security training for Security Officers, Behavioral Specialists, Console Operators, and even external contract security staff. The Security Training Operations Supervisor projects a positive image and promotes a safe healthcare environment with integrity, maintains the organizations values, and programs to strengthen employee knowledge and skills.

Essential Job Statements

Develop, implement, coordinate, and oversee a training program to enhance security awareness, assist team with acquiring new skills, knowledge, and attitudes to meet the demands of the organization that adhere to VCU Health and Security Dept policies, and procedures. Collaborating with Security Supervisors, and Security Specialist to integrate Security Training for onboarding, develop a retraining session for seasoned employees and training workshops for professional development.

Build Character, develop leadership skills, create testing and evaluation processes, provide classroom training, demonstrations and on the job training.

Assess the needs for training, supervisor subordinates, align the training, review materials and keeping the books and documents updated.

Training involves the use of Radio systems, laptops, computers, and MS Office products.

Must be highly dependable, able to stay calm in stressful situations, and have a strong attention to detail. Further, must have a high level of confidentiality dealing with incidents and security techniques.

The Training Supervisor will understand how to work with a team by assessing the needs of the employees and identifying the best possible way to achieve the company goals.

Training Supervisor will have direct supervision of Security Specialist roles.

Ensure responsibility and visible commitment of diversity equity and inclusion strategy, programs, and initiatives through collaboration and implementation of initiatives across the health system.

Patient Population: Not applicable to this position. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide equitable care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit.

Employment Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Education: N/A

Licensing/ Certification

Licensure/Certification Required: Valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation.

Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certified Trainer for approved therapeutic options; (MANDT, TOVA).

Minimum Qualifications

Years and Type of Required Experience: At least 3 years previous Law Enforcement, Public Safety training, including prior Supervisor and Training Supervisor experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated capability for problem solving decision-making, sound judgement and assertiveness. Adaptable, open to change and able to work in ambiguous situations and respond to new information or unexpected circumstances.
Works well under pressure and manage several responsibilities with ease and composure.

Cultural Responsiveness: Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Customer Service training, ability to multitask, and radio communications.

Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.

Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel. May have periods of constant interruptions.
