DESCRIPTION

The Patient Access Supervisor acts as the liaison for administrative services and operations within the Department of Cancer Services. This role involves overseeing a high-performing team of clinical care coordinators, managing complex authorization processes, handling call center escalations, and driving process improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations such as timekeeping, monitoring departmental performance and optimizing staff schedules. Additionally, the role involves coordinating patient access functions and ensuring the implementation of standard procedures for front and back end operations, as well as supervising the clinical care coordinator team by providing guidance and support.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration, or related area.

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent relevant experience supervising support staff.

  • Experience and proven success in skills to supervise support staff in clinic/center administration, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Knowledge of practice operations, patient-scheduling systems, medical and insurance terminology, applicable information systems, patient service standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Basic knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to provide input to decision-making on human resources matters.

  • Detail oriented, with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.

  • Solid interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants, and outside agencies.

  • Exceptional skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex administrative, clinical, and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses.

  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic/center operations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Lean Six Sigma skills.

  • Cancer service experience or equivalent service line experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of insurance authorization and verification process.

  • Proven scheduling experience.

  • Exceptional patient experience and service recovery skills.

  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team including administrators, APPs, surgeons and nurses.

  • Advanced EPIC experience.

  • Ability to multitask in a busy practice environment and ensure deadlines are met effectively.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
