Responsibilities

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking healthcare system that recently implemented Epic as Community Memorial Healthcare's enterprise-wide electronic medical record (EMR). We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Clinical Informatics to lead our clinical informatics team and help drive meaningful change at the intersection of technology and patient care.

In this vital leadership role, the Director of Clinical Informatics will collaborate closely with the Director of Applications and other cross-functional leaders to ensure our clinical information systems are thoughtfully designed, optimized, and effectively adopted across the organization. You will guide efforts to enhance clinical workflows, support change management, and drive measurable improvements in patient outcomes and operational performance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
    Provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of clinical information systems.
  1. Collaborate with clinical leaders, Chief Information Officer, Director of Applications and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving clinical workflows and processes through technology.
  2. Serve as a subject matter expert in clinical informatics, staying up-to-date with emerging trends and best practices in the field.
  3. Develop and maintain clinical decision support tools to improve patient outcomes and reduce clinical errors.
  4. Working collaboratively with Information Systems and Quality, ensure that clinical information systems comply with healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, Meaningful Use).
  5. Manage projects related to clinical informatics, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  6. Provide training and support to clinicians and other stakeholders in the effective use of clinical information systems.
  7. Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
  8. Working closely with the Director of Applications to maintain relationships with vendors and other external partners to ensure that clinical information systems are aligned with organizational goals and strategies.
  9. Represent the organization in external forums related to clinical informatics and healthcare IT.
  10. Develop and implement metrics to track the effectiveness of clinical workflows and identify areas for improvement.
  11. Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive clinical informatics strategy that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  12. Provide leadership and direction to clinical informatics staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
  13. Communicate regularly with clinical and operational leaders to provide updates on clinical informatics initiatives and gather feedback to inform future planning and decision-making.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has supervisory responsibilities over the clinical informatics team.



Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, health informatics, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in clinical informatics, healthcare IT, or related field
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and processes
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical decision support tools
  • Ability to lead and manage projects, teams, and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in nursing, health informatics, or related field
  • Certification in healthcare informatics (e.g., CPHIMS)
  • Experience with quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, Meaningful Use)
  • Experience with clinical data analytics and population health management
