Overview
NaphCare is hiring a Controlled Substance Pharmacy Technician to join our team of medical professionals at our Corporate Headquarters in Birmingham, AL. Position hours will be Monday - Friday, 9:00 am CST to 6:00 pm CST. Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Controlled Substance Pharmacy Technician is responsible for receiving and filling controlled substance prescription requests and completing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Controlled Substance Pharmacy Technician:
Use knowledge and expertise to ensure that dispensing processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance and accreditation standards.
- Attention to detail: Key and fill controlled substance medications. Label and maintain inventory documentation according to internal policies and procedures.
- Order, label, and count controlled substance medications and enter inventory data.
- Receive controlled substance inventory according to policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.
- Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all controlled substance medications.
- Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas, including sterilization as required.
- Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.
- Must complete at least sufficient hours of CEU to maintain Technician license.
- Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care.
- Will be assigned to Keying, packing, order fulfillment, and inventory replenishment duties as needed.
- Willingness to complete special projects as needed from management.
- Willingness to work assigned schedule and mandatory overtime in peak times.
- Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.
Qualifications
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy
- Three years of Pharmacy experience
- PTCB certification is preferred
- Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
- Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
