General Summary of Position The incumbent in this position is a supervisor who provides professional nursing care and participates in and facilitates the management of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the unit. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards. Schedule Days- 4 -10hr shifts per week Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in planning, directing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the nursing carein an acute care interventional procedure area.Provides direct patient care continually monitoring and evaluating the quality of care and services that is provided on the unit.Performs and assures proper performance of:Patient scheduling is performed to maximize efficiency of patient flow.Pre-procedure phone interviews are completed to include review of medical. History, current medications and allergies that may contraindicate procedure.Education of patient concerning procedure and giving of pre-procedure instructions.Pre-procedure lab work and support services arranged as required.Pre-procedure assessment of patient and appropriate documentation per hospital policy.Post-procedure care provided, or arrangements made. Discharge per hospital policy.Coordinates and collaborates with nursing staff. Physicians, patients, families and other Departments those activities related to patient and unit services.Participates in research and development activities of the unit.Coordinates and documents PI measures and QI functions of the department. Prepares Information for submission to appropriate hospital committees and required reporting systems.Assumes all responsibilities for the management of the unit, with the Lead Tech in the absence of The Director.Performs personnel management functions for the designated area to include, but not limited to Interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, evaluating, promoting, And terminating employees as delegated by or with Director's approval. Participates in planning (as delegated) of orientation, training, continuing education programs or Other opportunities for learning for the unit and other Hospital staff as appropriate.Participates in monitoring and controlling assigned operational and capital budgets within Administrative/departmental guidelines.Performs other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and area. Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience
- 2 years of related clinical experience in nursing in a procedure area required
Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the District of Columbia required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
within 90 Days required - Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
- Health Services\ACLS preferred

This position has a hiring range of $46.17 - $75.62
