About the Job

The Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and producing structural engineering design deliverables required for a select group of in-house design projects. Additional duties would also include overview and review of select external designed projects, and serve as a point of contact for those external structural engineering design consultants. The Senior Structural Engineer will foster relationships with key associates across the organization, external consultants, and our clients to ensure the successful completion of deliverables. The position will report to the Director, Structural Engineering.

Functions & Responsibilities

Executive Liaison and Coordination

  • Facilitate effective communication between internal departments and external design teams.

  • Coordinate project meetings, ensuring timely and well-prepared sessions.

  • Act as a point of contact for select in-house and external project operational issues.

  • Makes decisions and recommendations for design and cost-efficient systems and approaches

Functional Area 2

  • Oversee and coordinate select structural engineering projects for in-house design projects

  • Prepare and review structural engineering calculations, and structural permit drawings

  • Review of engineering specifications

  • Oversee construction administration of select in-house design projects

  • Conduct reviews of external consultant generated plans and calculations

  • Perform reviews as required for potential RFI's on projects designed by external consultants

  • Ability to manage design team members and delegate duties accordingly

  • Provide technical guidance to engineering staff

Functional Area 3

  • Familiarity with State and local building codes

  • Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD

  • Working knowledge of industry software, including Enercalc, RISABase, RISA3D, Forte, and Tedds

  • Experience with Wood, Steel, CMU, Concrete and Light-Guage framing, with a proficient understanding of Wood design

  • Working knowledge of fire-ratings and STC requirements

  • Experience with Single-Family Residential (SFR), Multi-Family (MF) design, as well as podium construction

  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US

Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Master's degree, preferred.

  • 10+ years' experience in a professional setting (inclusive of non-profit or government roles)

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) in Texas (with additional states of California, Washington, Oregon, and Oregon preferred)

  • Travel up to 20%

  • Ability to climb ladders as needed to perform site visits

  • Proven experience in an executive support role or similar position.

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

  • Proficiency in using business software and tools, including MS Office and project management applications.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
