Director, Pricing Strategy

Job Description:

NextGen Healthcare is a leading provider of software and services that empower ambulatory practices to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient experience, and operate more efficiently. As we transform into a modern platform company, pricing strategy and enablement plays a critical role in accelerating growth, expanding margins, and aligning value with outcomes. We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Director of Pricing Strategy to build and lead a dedicated pricing discipline that spans strategy, governance, execution, and tooling. This cross-functional leadership role is responsible for designing and operationalizing pricing frameworks that drive revenue growth, ensure margin discipline, and support strategic goals across NextGen's software and services portfolio. This role will work closely with Finance, Sales, Product, Services, and Business Development on new pricing and packaging. The ideal candidate has direct experience in transitioning legacy software pricing (e.g., perpetual or maintenance models) to SaaS subscription models and is comfortable navigating complex, evolving pricing scenarios- including AI and agent-centric technologies. Experience in healthcare IT or a related sector is strongly preferred.

*Macro Pricing Strategy: Drive overarching pricing strategy and identify opportunities for refinement (e.g., pricing for competitive displacement, new logo acquisition, or specialization by market segment).

*Business Model Innovation: Develop value-based pricing constructs and transition strategies for clients moving from legacy contracts to SaaS subscription models, while also exploring emerging monetization approaches for new capabilities like AI and agent-centric technologies.

*Packaging & Bundling: Collaborate with Product Management and Marketing to support packaging strategy and bundling of services and features. Work with product teams to co-develop pricing models and guidelines, including governance over SKU creation and management.

*Market & Pricing Intelligence: Analyze competitor pricing and commercial strategy to inform internal pricing decisions and strategic positioning. Conduct primary and secondary source research to test customer price sensitivity, willingness to pay, and buying preferences.

*Pricing Committee Leadership: Facilitate regular pricing committee meetings with cross-functional stakeholders to track progress against the company's goals and ensure governance, alignment, and responsiveness to market changes.

*Governance & Performance Analytics: Introduce automated dashboards, adherence tracking, and compliance monitoring to ensure pricing integrity, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.

*Margin Analytics: Oversee estimation and control of deal margins, incorporating assumptions around cost structures and delivery models in partnership with Finance. Explore allocation of fixed vs. variable cost inputs where relevant.

*Pricing Tools & Enablement: Develop and manage tools and resources (e.g., pricing calculators, sales FAQs, pricing cards) to support field execution and pricing discipline.

*Sales Collaboration & Pilot Testing: Partner with Sales leadership to test new business models, pricing strategies, and commercial offers through controlled client pilots and direct field feedback, iterating based on market response and performance data.

*Client Entitlements: Support the system for tracking, maintaining, and governing client entitlement data; ensure alignment between what is sold, what is contracted, and what is provisioned across products and services.

Education Required:

*Bachelor's degree

*MBA or equivalent experience strongly preferred.

* Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.

Experience Required:

*8-12+ years of experience in pricing, finance, product management, or consulting, preferably within B2B SaaS or healthcare technology.

*Experience migrating pricing models from perpetual or maintenance-based licensing to SaaS is strongly preferred.

*Familiarity with pricing strategy for emerging technologies, including AI/ML or agent-centric platforms, is a plus.
*Deep expertise in pricing frameworks, packaging strategy, discounting models, and margin management.
*Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive organizational change in a matrixed environment.
*Strong analytical toolkit with ability to extract insights from financial models and sales data.
*Proficiency with pricing systems, dashboards, and CPQ platforms; Salesforce CRM, Oracle CPQ or similar tools preferred.
