Cleveland-Cliffs Steel is in search of an IT Applications Engineer. The position will be located at the West Chester Regional Office and will enhance, maintain and support computer systems and associated applications.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Enhance, maintain and support computer systems and associated applications applying knowledge of steelmaking and still finishing operations systems, RemedyForce service management software and Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the business, and other team members participating in meetings to analyze and develop project requirements and technical support tasks.
  • Work proactively to take requirements and modify or develop applications while identifying all critical interfaces and address any impact in user testing and implementation.
  • Plan, organize, and implement technical projects and solutions following the Change Management process.
  • Create required documentation /evidence for enhancements or new applications systems with expertise and experience in the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle).
  • Ensure timely and effective feedback for customer issues and requests while providing recommendations for enhancements or changes to correct or minimize support issues.
  • Provide 24 X 7 on-call information technology support for existing West Chester applications.
  • Support and development of online and batch applications.
  • Enhance, maintain and support computer systems and associated applications through discovery, analysis, development, testing, and implementation.
  • Troubleshoot issues and address concerns while identifying ways to improve applications.
  • Interact with business users when gathering requirements, understanding support concerns, learning business processes, etc.
  • Create complex program flow diagrams, model complex objects through relationship illustrations and design complex data models.
  • Apply judgment in devising program logic while selecting and adapting standard programming procedures.
  • Conduct code review of peers while ensuring code quality and adherence. Develop, maintain, and execute unit and integration tests.
  • Troubleshoot your own work as well as others to ensure there are no problems and debug programs whenever problems arise.
  • May engage in project management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience as an applications engineer, software engineer, or similar role within a manufacturing organization.
  • Must have 5 years of experience with: manufacturing execution systems; custom software development and software development lifecycle processes using Agile or Waterfall; JCL, Cobol, PLI, Visual Studio, GIT, Micro Focus enterprise server, ZENA, and Power Automate; DB2.
  • Cross-functional experience with team members and key stakeholders; and mainframe and web-based systems and architecture are required.
