Job Summary

The Manager Benefits supports the benefits strategy and administration of the company's employee benefit program including the design, implementation, and maintenance of the program. The Benefits Manager works with benefit consultants and vendors to stay appraised of company's competitive position in employee benefits and to ensure company compliance with federal and state laws. This position plays a key role in supporting the Company's annual benefits review, and provides recommendations to the Benefits Director, Chief People Officer and Executive team to ensure competitiveness while being financially prudent. The Benefits Manager leads all communications and implementation of wellness and health education initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Works closely with the Benefits Director in reviewing all health and welfare program offerings by gathering benchmarking data, preparing analysis, and contributing recommendations to help ensure the programs remain competitive and aligned with organizational goals.

  • Supports the annual benefits renewal process by gathering data, coordinating with vendors, and preparing materials to inform leadership on trends or issues that may impact financial planning or decision-making.

  • Deploys communication strategies to ensure all benefits programs are fully understood and valued by employees, including benefit bulletins and other benefit materials and resources. Manages the benefits materials available to employees on Connect.

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for benefit vendors and insurance carriers and acts as an employee advocate in troubleshooting escalated benefit issues and resolving disputes with insurance carriers.

  • Manages the Annual Open Enrollment process including the review and renewal, coordinating with the HRIS team, setting the open enrollment calendar, employee communications, participation in the preparation of benefit educational materials and presentations.

  • Manages the company wellness program, including budget projections, promotion, and administrative activities.

  • Oversees the administration of the 401k plan, including preparation of Summary Plan Description for participants, beneficiaries, and the 401k Committee.

  • Works with the 401k administrator, financial planners, and auditors to ensure audit compliance with 401k plan and annual 5500 filings. Conducts related analysis to support audit requirements.

  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state agencies. Prepares and implement in concert with outside benefit consultant the annual benefits compliance calendar. Monitor regulations and reporting requirements as they relate to Surescripts' policies, plans, and programs. Ensures the timely completion of regulatory reports and filings including 5500s and plan audits.

  • Establish and monitor employee benefit expenses against the budget.

  • Oversees the leave administrative process and works closely with the outsourced administrative leave vendor. Partners with the HRBP function concerning all aspects of leave management and ADA/ADAAA request.

  • Serves as in-house expert regarding the following federal and state laws: FMLA, ADA, ADAA, Workers Compensation and COBRA and maintains a general understanding of ERISA.

  • Oversees the tracking, monitoring, and reporting of all benefit related metrics.

  • Represents the Company in all Unemployment hearings.

  • Streamlines the administrative processes for all benefit administration and ensures the documentation of these procedures.

  • Oversees the reconciliation, approval, and processing of monthly benefit invoices.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of related, progressive experience

  • 3+ years of people management experience or experience in roles showing progressive leadership

  • Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Prior experience working with federal benefit laws including FMLA, ADA, ADAAA, and COBRA

  • Prior experience with HR analytics

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $119,000 - $145,400 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
