About the Hiring Group

RTI International is one of the world's leading research institutes, dedicated to improving the human condition by turning knowledge into practice. The Communications Practice Area has an immediate opening for a Product Manager specializing in SharePoint and DUO in support of NAEP and NRC K-12 education technology, who will play a pivotal role in driving the vision and strategy throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure exceptional customer experiences for a wide range of web-based private NAEP and NRC applications. The Project Manager will have extensive knowledge of NAEP and NRC educational assessment and data systems and is responsible for driving the vision, development, and measurement of exceptional customer experiences for these small to medium NAEP and NRC products. The Product Manager will work closely with the program leadership team to manage digital product initiatives and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams at every stage to prioritize end users' and clients' needs. The Product Manager will also support the creation of features on existing NAEP and NRC products.

This position is open to individuals interested in working remotely or working from our headquarters in Research Triangle Park, NC. This is a one year term position with the possibility of extension.


What You'll Do

  • Work collaboratively between the product team (comprised of UI/UX designers, UX researchers, developers, content strategists, and subject matter experts) and stakeholders.
  • Provide input on product roadmaps for digital products.
  • Work closely with the product team to determine and implement new features and functionality.
  • Participate in formative research (e.g., audits, interviews, focus groups, and surveys) to understand user needs.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to understand industry trends.
  • Support product teams through the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and design to development, launch, and post-launch support.
  • Create and implement work plans in collaboration with project leadership.
  • Closely track internal timelines and communicate priorities to the project team using work plans and project management software (e.g., JIRA, Asana, Trello, Smartsheet).
  • Awareness of potential risks and issues in product development.
  • Prepare testing plans in collaboration with project team for quality assurance testing (QAT) and user acceptance testing (UAT). May conduct QAT/UAT testing.
  • Additional duties identified in collaboration with supervisor and project teams.

What You'll Need

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated product management success in Microsoft SharePoint management and configuration for U.S. Department of Education intranet platforms including requirements gathering and business process analysis, design and enhancement, system configuration and development, system test, implementation and deployment, user training, and user support,
  • Demonstrated success in DUO administration, authentication and account security for NAEP and NRC web-based private applications.
  • Demonstrated product management success in maintaining and operating NAEP and NRC web-based private applications focused on supporting the coordinating and disseminating of public education data.
  • Must hold a current Public Trust Clearance through the U.S. Department of Education for NAEP.
  • Awareness of human-centered design principles and best practices for digital accessibility.
  • Knowledge of NAEP and NRC web-based private applications performance analytics.
  • Knowledge of Federal intranet website standards.
  • Awareness of front and back-end engineering processes for NAEP-related SharePoint technologies.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices for network infrastructure management and web-based application security compliance.

Desired qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of experience, Master's degree and 1 year of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, SharePoint, KACE, VMware vSphere, CyberArk.
  • Familiarity with Confluence and Jira.
