Your Role

The Customer and Scheduling Support Specialist will be responsible for utilizing Covisint, order processing and accessing customer specific web portals / programs, as well as interacting with EDI and processing ASN's. You will receive and respond to all customer inquiries and lead times, enter orders and relay pertinent order information to customer. You will coordinate with other departments to assure timely shipment of orders and communicate appropriate logistic instruction to shipping for customer specified routing. You will be responsible for preparing, managing, and issuing the manufacturing production schedule in addition to assisting in accurate and timely inventory posting of goods to the ERP system. You will report to the Customer Service Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  • Receive customer purchase orders and/or release schedule.
  • Enter and maintain customer orders in the business systems.
  • Monitor EDI Data and transmit ASN's.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with customers. Respond promptly to inquiries and work to provide the best possible solution.
  • Utilize various computer programs - Syspro, Work front, Microsoft products, SharePoint, customer portals - to look up and retrieve customer information, obtain part status, availability and lead-time, and check delivery status.
  • Proactive follow up with customer on open order status. Communicate delivery delays to the customer promptly.
  • Communicate with operations team regarding part delivery issues and delivery schedule changes.
  • Support with transportation / logistics including quoting and scheduling of carriers; following up for billing accuracy.
  • Confirm customer accounts flagged over credit limit and assist with resolving past due payment.
  • Initiate/enter credit/debit notes in the business system to correct invoice discrepancies and transact customer returns.


  • Monitor & update daily overall schedule for zones of responsibility
  • Generate jobs from wire & loose product
  • Communicate necessary scheduling information to appropriate department personnel
  • Ensure schedule adherence and follow-up with all relevant team members


  • Collaborate with QA personnel on material quality issues


  • Communicate daily and timely with customer service to resolve order concerns and status
  • Deliver rivet orders for Project Management
  • Monitor supplier material deliveries and communicate requirements to purchasing.


  • Monitor and process required job closure transactions daily.


  • Process inventory adjustments


  • Track and monitor metrics related to production control, lead the implementation of any appropriate corrective or improvement actions
  • Must have flexibility to come in early or stay late. Alternate on-call after hours and weekends


  • All other duties assigned by supervisor.



To succeed, you will need



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of ERP, MRP and other database software packages
  • Computer skills to include Windows and Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheets
  • Punctual / Positive attitude / Team player / Proactive
  • Working knowledge of EDI release/forecast schedules, preferred
  • Knowledge of domestic/international shipping & export requirements
  • Experience with Automotive OEM's


  • 4-Year College degree preferred (Business, Supply Chain Management or similar), or 4+ years of successful production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in a customer facing role
  • Minimum 1 year experience using Customer Portals, Covisint preferred
