About the Role
As an Applications Engineer II - Software, you will serve as a senior-level technical resource, working directly with customers to implement and optimize Hexagon's ESPRIT CAD/CAM software solutions. You will take ownership of complex technical challenges, lead customer solution architecture, and mentor junior engineers. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, CNC machining expertise, and customer-facing communication skills.
What You'll Do
Lead pre-sale and post-sale technical engagements with strategic customers for the ESPRIT product line.
Design advanced manufacturing solutions using CAD/CAM software and post-processing customization.
Drive implementation of custom software solutions for customer-specific manufacturing processes.
Develop and deliver comprehensive technical training for end-users, distributors, and internal staff.
Collaborate with R&D teams to drive enhancements based on customer feedback and industry trends.
Support escalated customer issues, identifying root causes and leading resolution strategies.
Represent Hexagon at key industry events and provide thought leadership in digital manufacturing.
Mentor junior application engineers and support knowledge sharing across the team.
Travel up to 30% to customer sites and industry events.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Qualifications
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
3-5 years of experience in CAD/CAM applications, CNC programming, or manufacturing engineering.
Proficiency with ESPRIT, Mastercam, Siemens NX, or similar advanced CAM platforms.
Strong knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining, part programming, and G-code logic.
Demonstrated ability to develop or troubleshoot post-processors.
Ability to manage technical projects independently and communicate effectively with customers.
Experience delivering formal training or conducting technical workshops.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience with automation or process integration in digital manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with Python, VBScript, or C++ for macro/post customization.
Exposure to additive manufacturing or hybrid machining processes.
Understanding of PLM/ERP system integration with CAM platforms.
Prior experience with product lifecycle support in software-driven manufacturing tools.
Work Environment
Office setting with occasional visits to customer sites and factory environments.
Moderate travel (up to 30%) required.
Clean, well-lit, low-noise office conditions; moderate factory noise with provided PPE as needed.
Frequent computer and equipment use; occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
