Description:We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Ph.D. or MD scientists to join our group as postdoctoral research fellows.

Description:
The Sen Lab is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. scientist to join our team as a postdoctoral research fellow. The lab focuses on understanding the mechanisms of phenotypic plasticity, therapeutic resistance, and immune escape mechanisms in lung cancer. This position is supported by a newly funded NIH grant.

The research will involve high-throughput functional genomics using CRISPR-based screening, lineage tracing, and in vivo models to elucidate mechanisms underlying tumor evolution and drug resistance. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art technologies and work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

The Sen Lab focuses on the development of new treatment paradigms for clinically relevant molecular subsets of lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer mortality. The Sen Lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to studying basic mechanisms and biological principles of tumor pathogenesis with a focus on lung cancer. We aim to elucidate the fundamental principles of cancer initiation, progression, and therapeutic response and resistance and to translate these findings to improve patient outcomes. The overall goal of this research programspanning basic mechanistic discoveries, application of high-throughput technologies, validation in cancer-relevant mouse models, and translation platformsis to understand the fundamental principles driving tumor progression, including both cancer cell-intrinsic signaling and contributions from the tumor microenvironment, to improve therapy and survival outcomes in lung cancer patients.

What Youll Do:

  • Conduct and design independent research projects
  • Perform CRISPR/Cas9-based genetic screens, epigenetic and transcriptomic analyses
  • Utilize animal models to investigate lung cancer progression and resistance mechanisms
  • Analyze next-generation sequencing and epigenomic data
  • Write scientific manuscripts describing research findings
  • Attend national and international meetings to present research findings, learn about the latest advances in the field, and develop a scientific network
  • Apply for fellowships and grants
  • Mentor junior scientists

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics, or a related field
  • Strong expertise in cell culture, gene editing (CRISPR-based approaches), and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience with ATAC seq, CHIP-seq, RNA-seq and bioinformatics analyses
  • Mandatory experience working with animal models of cancer
  • Strong publication record, including at least two publication outputs in the last three years, with the applicant as the principal author of at least one publication
  • Self-motivation and a curiosity-driven mindset
  • Prior postdoctoral experience is not required
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • The selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The Ohio State University is a dynamic community of diverse resources, where opportunity thrives and where individuals transform themselves and the world. The Ohio State University is one of the nations largest and most comprehensive public universities and a top employer in Ohio.

As one of only 54 designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute is dedicated to the creation of knowledge in laboratory, clinical and population-based cancer research. We apply those discoveries to develop more effective approaches to cancer prevention, diagnosis, and therapies providing tomorrows standard of care today. A Cancer-Free World Begins Here.

The OSUCCC James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nations largest public universities. is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nations largest public universities.
