About This Opportunity

JOB TITLE: Plant Controller - Richland Center & Lancaster
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

* Onsite 3-4 days a week at Richland Center and/or Lancaster facilities with flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week.

*Ability to travel up to 40%

Position Overview:

The Plant Controller is responsible for all financial aspects of their assigned plants' operations, acting as a business partner with plant management and leadership, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and manufacturing expenses in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Plant Controller is also a strategic member of the plant management team driving the plant to meet and exceed financial targets through their leadership on cost reduction opportunities and yield improvements to grow profit margins.

Key Accountabilities:

Ensure accurate monthly plant costs and conduct financial reviews with plant and finance leadership focused on variance analysis:

  • Variable & Fixed Costs

  • Inventory Metrics & Valuation

  • Depreciation & Taxes

  • Other KPIs, such as headcount or utility usage rates, which drive operational variances

  • Risk & Opportunities

Build the Annual Financial Operating Plan for each plant:

  • Validation of production plans and projected yields including bill of material (BOM) maintenance and in-standard productivity

  • Raw & Pack shrink rates

  • Variable costs and BOM routings

  • Fixed costs and projected absorption rates

  • Advise corporate FP&A on impacts to depreciation & taxes

  • Identify opportunities to achieve year-over year financial improvements

Deliver operational results:

  • Partner with plant leadership to mitigate risks to plan

  • Guide cost reduction opportunities to implementation

  • Support strategic initiatives which drive operational and process improvements

  • Optimize resource utilization during max production windows and planned downtime via understanding financial tradeoffs

  • Support maintenance/non-ROI capital projects

  • Support product life-cycle management initiatives

Support a strong controls environment:

  • Ensure segregation of duties in accordance with company policies and procedures

  • Oversee physical counts of spare parts and fixed assets at the prescribed frequency and book inventory adjustments accordingly

  • Manage inventory and finished goods cycle counts

  • Plant leader on expense policies, i.e. no PO no pay

Minimum Qualifications:

2 years of experience in a Plant Controller role or 3 years in other key Finance Leadership roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in finance or accounting

Dairy or food manufacturing cost accounting experience

Physical Setting:

  • Onsite 3-4 days a week with flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week

  • Ability to travel up to 40%
