DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Tactical regional assignment and distribution of Intermediate Fleet (IF) locomotives, Remote Control Locomotive (RCL) equipment, Operator Control Unit (OCU) boxes, and telecom infrastructure.
  • Regional Intermediate fleet and RCO subject matter expertise to promote efficiency and reliability in the Intermediate and RCO Locomotive Fleets.
  • Responsible for maintaining terminal plans for switching and local power to support the TSP withing their region.
  • Monitor utilization of Intermediate Fleet locomotives, Remote Control Locomotive (RCL) equipment, Telecom infrastructure and Operator Control Units (OCU) to maximize efficiency and support the growth of the RCO platform across the network.
  • Distribute planned maintenance and defective equipment to shops for locomotive repair to reduce dwell and away from station time.
  • Coordinate with the CRF and vendors for RCO equipment repairs to ensure maximum reliability of the RCO Platform applied to both intermediate fleet locomotives and Terminal infrastructure.
  • Execute annual power and RCO modification plans including annual Capital investment plans (roughly $6M/Year) and equipment inspections at third party facilities for plan and design compliance.
  • Research and source next generation RCO technology to solve for existing equipment obsolescence issues.
  • Hold vendors accountable to all contracts and MSA agreements.
  • Manage all expenses related to RCO operation including MSA agreements, operating expenditures and Training Programs (roughly $10M/Year).
  • Coordinate with Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) to help identify and prioritize Terminals for potential RCO Conversion to comply with System level initiatives associated with Helper Service Reduction (2024 Brakeman Agreement Implementation).
  • Develop and centralize data analytics into a single platform via Tableau and Bi-Query to generate both performance driven decision making for future enhancements to the RCO and Intermediate fleets as well as the development of a dashboard for all departments involved in remote control operations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 5 years locomotive and/or RCO planning experience
  • Must have 5 or more years of experience in asset management, Transportation and/or Mechanical Operations
  • Must have strong business writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and various levels of leadership
  • GCOR rules qualified

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years of experience with contracts/budgets
  • Experience with Tableau and/or Bi-Query development

RELOCATION: Relocation assistance may be offered based on business need.

TRAVEL: Travel may be necessary for this position.
