Job Description
Job Summary The Art Director will be part of a creative team and will help to lead the design of both print and digital tactics while providing creative direction. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment and be ready and eager to bring your special sauce to every project no matter how large or small the challenge. Responsibilities
- Lead creative development for projects, including digital, print, and experiential.
- Contribute to original designs and concepts.
- Oversee and ensure Brand consistency and quality across marketing production work.
- Ensure timely and accurate project deliverables.
- Mentor creative team members.
- Collaborate with creative, copy, and digital teams.
- Remain current with industry best practices and apply them to the development of creativity.
- Art directs new and production-based projects.
- Follows projects throughout all stages of print production and/or online deployment.
- Provides production support to produce technically correct, print-ready mechanicals for release.
- Interacts regularly with clients, creative partners, and other team members as needed for the completion of assigned projects.
- Interprets marketing ideas and turns them into visual reality at a world-class level.
- Collaborates across teams to help create top-line campaigns which push the boundaries.
- Solves business challenges through smart creative design.
- Takes ownership, leads initiatives, and successfully executes through all stages of creative development on target, on time, and on budget.
- Effective communication with peers, senior management, and clients across all topics from business to creative.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a discipline-related field
- 5+ yrs. of relevant experience
- A strong portfolio showcasing a range of high-quality work across digital (web, mobile, UI/UX) and print (branding, packaging, collateral), demonstrating creativity, versatility, and attention to detail
- Experience in retail, agency, or in-house environments, with a track record of designing for both digital platforms and print media
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools is required: Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), and Microsoft 365
- Deep understanding of UI/UX design principles, including wireframing, prototyping, user flows, interaction design, and accessibility standards
- Confident presenting and articulating design concepts to stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams
- Strong experience preparing artwork for print production, including prepress, file setup, color management, and working with external vendors
- Demonstrated ability to manage both print and digital projects from concept through execution, while maintaining brand consistency and visual quality
- Working knowledge of front-end development, allowing for seamless collaboration with developers on digital builds
- Strong visual design skills with a focus on layout, typography, design systems, and responsive design for web and mobile interfaces
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret feedback, understand business needs, and translate them into creative solutions
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment while delivering high-quality results
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with experience using project and workflow tools such as Asana, Trello, Jira, or Monday
- Copywriting skills and creative ideation capabilities are a plus
Additional Information
RRD's current salary range for this role is $77,900 to $124,600 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
