Taft is seeking a Director of Docketing Services to join our team in Denver.
We are seeking a Director of Docketing Services to support our Litigation team in the Denver office. All Taft employees operate under a "Client First" philosophy-in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement docketing projects and initiatives.
- Stay current on industry knowledge and best practices related to docketing software, procedures, staffing, and workflow. Work closely with other departments to oversee the implementation of any future initiatives.
- Monitor and assess docket department efficiency, accuracy, and cost-savings while minimizing errors.
- Communicate regularly with practice group and administrative management to ensure docketing services meet expectations.
- Assist with budget development and oversee all expenses for the docketing department.
- Oversee ongoing training progress for both new and existing docket staff. Provide weekly onboarding sessions for new attorney and staff hires in the firm.
- Maintain and update accounts for all CompuLaw timekeepers and MyView users in the Firm.
- Prepare, process and generate routine and special reports for distribution as needed, using CompuLaw and MyView.
- Interact with court personnel, attorneys and staff to provide information, answer questions, and resolve problems.
- Research and keep up-to-date on developments and changes in court procedures for various jurisdictions.
- Oversee and develop a cohesive and skilled team of docketing professionals who provide docketing services for the firm. Direct and oversee staffing decisions, team compensation, and promotions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of seven to ten years of experience leading a litigation docketing department using Aderant CompuLaw, in a law firm, corporation or government environment.
- Proficient in the use of Aderant CompuLaw and MyView is required.
- Knowledge of the legal process, court operations, and federal, state and local court and administrative rules.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents such as pleadings and other documents related to a litigation matter.
- Ability to communicate effectively with, and follow instructions from, diverse individuals and to provide information with courtesy and tact, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to reason and apply common sense understanding to resolve problems and carry out instructions furnished verbally or in writing.
- Analytical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work under a high level of mental effort to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Willingness to work non-standard shifts, including mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends in order to meet deadlines as needed.
- Demonstrates effectiveness, credibility, and strong teamwork while maintaining attention to detail.
