Your Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Public Relations Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role is integral in supporting the execution of Gensler's global PR strategy-amplifying the firm's leadership, practice areas, projects, awards, and thought leadership across real estate, design, and AEC industries.

As part of the global marketing and brand communications studio, the PR Specialist will report to the Global Director of PR and work closely with the Senior PR Manager and Media Relations Manager. They will also collaborate with regional PR teams, our PR agency, research teams, practice area leaders, and design experts. This position provides critical support for PR campaigns, awards programs, executive visibility, media outreach, speaking opportunities, internal reporting, and communications initiatives like the "This Week at Gensler" newsletter and PR trackers.

This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional who thrives on strategic storytelling, cross-functional collaboration, and making an impact at the intersection of design, real estate, and innovation. You'll work closely with senior leaders, build your media relations expertise across global markets, and contribute to campaigns that shape Gensler's voice around the world. This position is based on site 5 days a week.

What You Will Do

  • Support day-to-day execution of PR initiatives, including proactive media campaigns, press releases, and thought leadership development.

  • Assist in the coordination of Gensler's global awards strategy, including timeline management, submission support, and tracking in the Gensler PR Awards Tracker.

  • Partner with the global brand and communications teams to shape unique positioning and co-create impactful campaigns that drive the firm's growth.

  • Help identify and support speaking engagement and conference participation opportunities for firm and priority practice area leaders

  • Maintain internal communications tools, including the This Week at Gensler newsletter, PR coverage trackers, award calendars, and PR asset libraries.

  • Draft media materials including pitches, briefing documents, media lists, and backgrounders.

  • Collaborate with internal partners on PR projects, award submissions, media tours, and event activations.

  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends, flagging opportunities for engagement and visibility.

  • Participate in media monitoring, coverage reports, and metrics tracking to measure success and inform strategy.

Your Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in public relations, communications, or related field-AEC, real estate, or design and journalism industry experience preferred but not required.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to connect PR activities to broader business and brand goals.

  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting media relations campaigns, award submissions, and executive visibility programs.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills-able to craft clear, compelling messaging for internal and external audiences.

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative, can-do approach.

  • Familiarity with PR tools and platforms (e.g., Muck Rack, Cision, Meltwater, or similar) a plus.

  • Experience with content management systems, newsletters, and social media platforms is a bonus (Salesforce - Pardot, Asana, etc.).

  • Passion for design, innovation, and the built environment is highly valued.

  • If this position is based in Los Angeles, the base compensation is estimated to be between $100-110k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience

  • If this position is based in New York City, the base compensation is estimated to be between $105-115k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience

  • If this position is based in San Francisco, the base compensation is estimated to be between $110-120k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience
