We are looking for an interdisciplinary digital Motion Designer who has proven experience handling a wide range of visual, editorial coverage.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most accomplished journalists and video producers and photographers in the South to help us establish a bold visual identity and storytelling style that helps define The AJC for the next generation. And, you'll have a chance to live, work and play in one of the nation's most dynamic, fastest-growing cities, home to the nation's largest film and television production hub outside of Hollywood.

A successful candidate displays strong editorial judgment, storytelling skills and design capabilities. Candidates with a background in graphic design, motion design, animation, and video production will be considered. We are redefining our visual strategy, and this role is a key to our success.

Some of your job responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the conceptualization and execution of animation and motion design in daily videos and long form series.
  • Create animated explainers that distill complex ideas into easily understood visuals.
  • Create Mogrt templates to help video editors/producers create graphics on the fly.
  • Ensure branding consistency across all our videos.
  • Assist the social team with short form visuals and help optimize graphics for mobile platforms.
  • Create graphics packages for franchises and series.
  • Maintain internal databases and workflow systems to track and archive assets.


The qualifications and experience you should have:

  • With a BA/BS, must have 4/5+ years of design experience, motion design, and editing experience; with a Master's degree have at least 2 years of experience; with Ph.D. must have at least 1 year of experience; with no degree, must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in digital video production.
  • 2+ years experience in motion design
  • Experience creating news explainers and Mogrt templates
  • Strong organizational skills and communication skills
  • Passion and excitement for news and digital content
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while juggling multiple projects
  • Ability to remain flexible in changing environments
  • Must be able to work an extended schedule as deadlines or the news cycle requires
  • Adobe suite; After Effects and Illustrator is a must. Experience using Blender or Cinema 4D is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.


USD 65,500.00 - 98,300.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $65,500.00 - $98,300.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
