What Strategic Sourcing, National Brands (Consumer Health) contributes to Cardinal Health

The Consumer Health Sourcing Manager negotiates contracts with suppliers in support of the Consumer Category Management Strategy. This role works closely with the Category Managers to understand their needs and our customer needs to write contract language that supports both.

Location - Targeting candidates nationwide (fully remote), though our ideal preference would be finding someone local to Central Ohio willing to work in a hybrid capacity (a plus but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Lead Distribution Service Agreement (DSA) negotiations with suppliers
  • Strategize for and develop negotiation plans; review contract terms and conditions to maximize buy-side income and manage risk
  • Develop and execute risk management strategies across product portfolio to assure supply and meet buy-side income targets
  • Manage to buy-side income targets for assigned manufacturers and work to negotiate favorable buy-side margin based on financial analysis
  • Identify opportunities for operational and inventory improvements through sourcing strategy and align with operations, purchasing, and sales organizations
  • Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers
  • Work with Global Sourcing teams to leverage and incorporate best practices into negotiations
  • Leverage breadth of Cardinal Health services to create upstream value for manufacturers
  • Work closely with Finance teams to ensure buy income is received and open disputes are resolved
  • Utilize business and market data for defined categories to identify strategic opportunities with manufacturers

Qualifications

  • Ideally targeting individuals with 6+ years of Strategic Sourcing / Procurement experience, preferred
  • Contract negotiation experience with DSAs or MSAs (leading the negotiations versus playing an ancillary role), a strong preference
  • Knowledge or experience working in Medical Products space, a plus
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at all levels of technical ability and expertise
  • Ability to effectively work cross functionally with various departments, a must
  • Knowledge and practical experience in the healthcare industry, preferably with medical products and manufacturers
