Main Duties & Responsibilities
Company
RSA provides flight-critical components and
assemblies for the commercial, defense and business jet markets. RSA designs
and produces custom-engineered high pressure/high-temperature ducting
assemblies for each customer's specific performance requirements. RSA's Peri-SealTM is one of the
most sought after connectors in the aerospace industry. Additionally, RSA
designs and produces flexible joints and hoses, ozone converters and many
complex assemblies to meet stringent customer needs.
Job
Summary:
As a direct report to the Engineering Director
or delegate of the Engineering Director, the Cost Engineer shall be responsible to plan, organize, implement and control a
variety of activities related to Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering
Quoting. These activities are described
in Principle Duties & Responsibilities section.
Principal
Duties & Responsibilities:
Developing, evaluating, improving, and documenting manufacturing master routings.
Revisions to existing "on-the-floor" work orders including redlines and electronic updates.
Providing instructions (creating new work order routing operations) based on manufacturing engineering dispositions.
Creating specialized "one-shot" work orders to help support engineering changes to production.
Generating engineering estimated hours for customer request for information (RFI) or request for quotes (RFQ) for New Products for both RSA designed parts and customer Build-to-Print parts.
Collaborating with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on Non-Recurring Engineering tasks and efforts for quote packages.
Collaborating with Continuous Improvement Engineering and New Production Introduction departments to support manufacturing engineering teams.
Ability to clearly write or edit technical documentation and assembly or process instructions.
Work in both standalone and team environments to discover and implement solutions.
Conform to company safety policies and procedures.
Execution of and peer review of detailed design activities including: manufacturing drawing review, tooling designs, inspection aids, project schedules, etc.
Providing manufacturability and technical feedback to proposed bid packages
Ability to take "hands on" approach as well as give appropriate direction.
Perform other duties as assigned
Conform to company safety policies and procedures.
Work in a team environment.
Work with operators to prove out best methods for production.
Assist programs management team in creating and adhering to schedules for new production.
This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Simi Valley, CA location.
Qualifications
Required
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Aeronautical Engineering or Industrial Engineering. Advanced degree preferred. Understanding of a broad range of engineering skills. Product development background necessary.
1 - 4+ years of experience in metallic or composite ducting or structure manufacturing. Emphasis in welded sheet metal assemblies. Preferred experience with the following:
Use of an ERP system (i.e. SAP, InforXA, Epicor, etc.)
Creation of work instructions (i.e. MASTER ROUTERS, Travelers, etc.)
Design of tools or shop aids
Sheet metal forming processes
Welding requirements per AWS D17.1 and AWS D17.2 or other similar industry standards
Review, redline, and approval of manufacturing or tooling drawings and/or models
Feedback for new engineering designs pertaining to Design for Manufacturability
Estimating Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) efforts of the Manufacturing Engineering Team
Experience writing, reviewing, or approving certification documentation, such as: ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read / support the creation of 3D models and 2D drawings with dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.
Thorough understanding of industry specifications, such as MIL, AN, MS, NAS, ASTM, AMS, etc.
Preferred experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 or Solidworks).
10% or less travel.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $70,000- $106,000.
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
