Position summary:

We are looking for a driven, organized professional to join our team. You will assist in designing and provide support to senior planners, local supervisor and managers for assigned capital and maintenance projects on electric/natural gas transmission and distribution systems. You will provide customers with superior service in accordance with Black Hills Energy standards, and customer service policies and procedures.

Pay Range: This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
Level I: $28.05 - $42.12 per hour
Level II: $84,600 - $126,900 annually

Reporting Relationship: Construction Planning Manager

Location: Cody, Wyoming

Essential Functions:
* Create basic construction designs and work order estimates.
* Assist the planners with coordinating internal and external customer requirements for electric/natural gas service installation and primary/main extension for new commercial and residential customers per Black Hills Energy's extension policy.
* Under planning supervision, prepare construction plans, survey and stake facilities for new line extensions and integrity (replacement) upgrades and perform site visits to ensure work site is prepared and ready prior to start of construction.
* Perform tasks of limited and specific scope under the direction of experienced personnel.
* Communicate construction policies and procedures and projects scopes to Black Hills Energy customers.
* Assist planners in obtaining rights-of-way, easements, and other permits.
* Close out work orders by using company approved systems and processes. Ensure projects are accurately completed in Black Hills Energy mapping, asset, and accounting systems.
* Assist in gathering and communicating spend forecast on current and future projects.
* Support the planners when needed to review plans to design and relocate Black Hills Energy facilities to align with City, County, and State projects.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Develop the ability to prioritize workflow, establish schedules, monitor accomplishments, and provide project management and administrative support for assigned work.
* Maintain a safe work environment by developing basic knowledge of Black Hills Energy's safety policies, procedures, and stop work authority.
* Availability to work on call as assigned by the business unit.

What Is Required:
Level I:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Minimum of 1 year of construction, project management, engineering or other relevant experience in the utility industry
* This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
* This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
Level II:
* Associate's Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or related field, or combination of education and experience required.
* Minimum of 3 years of construction planning, utility operations, project management, engineering, or relevant experience.
* Strong construction management skills.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to monitor multiple projects concurrently.
* Ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of a crew in a safe and efficient manner.
* This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
* This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

What Is Desired:
* Basic understanding of electrical/natural gas standards for construction, methods, and materials.
* Entry level knowledge of cost estimating and variance reporting.
* Solid understanding of computers and ability to use Microsoft Office products and trade related software.
* Strong organizational skills that can be applied to project management functions.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to monitor and be involved in multiple projects running concurrently.
