HDR is seeking an Environmental Section Manager with the skills, interest, and dedication to join our dynamic Area Environmental Sciences and Planning practice. The successful candidate for this leadership position will be a well-rounded, team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills who is capable of coordinating and leading activities related to a variety of projects, from small-scale projects to complex, multidisciplinary, large-scale projects. In this role, the successful candidate will serve as a technical advisor to our clients, a cross-section resource for our various business groups, and a leader and mentor for the team and must be able to work closely with our team and clients and think strategically. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of strategic marketing and client management plans, managing major environmental projects or tasks across the area, supporting major proposal efforts and managing and mentoring environmental team staff. Position will provide opportunities to extend environmental services to all HDR markets, including transportation, resources, water and federal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in leading the preparation and management of complex transportation NEPA documents; experience in directing the technical and administrative aspects of complex environmental and planning studies; coordinating schedules; providing technical QA; implementing program policy; and proven problem-solving skills to assure projects are completed on time and within budget. In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Environmental team. This includes taking responsibility for staff development, morale, quality control, profitability, and marketing support.
- Serve as a project manager and/or task manager, taking responsibility for technical requirements and production, budget, schedule, and client communications.
- Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with other managers on project staffing, scope, schedules, and budgets.
- Work with Area market sector leads and Environmental cross sector lead in the region to establish direction and growth strategies for the practice, including strategic hires, acquisitions and emerging opportunities in the TN Area.
- Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing efforts.
- Perform other duties as needed

- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning or other related degree
- AICP
- Established client relationships with clients including, but not limited to, local agencies within the Southeast and specifically the TN Area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of USACE, USDOE, FEMA, FERC NEPA and related state environmental processes (TDOT, KYTC, TDEC, etc.)
- Experience overseeing complex environmental projects, EA/EIS documents and associated studies in support of infrastructure regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
