Laborer

Waste Connections Transfer Station is searching for a laborer in Wichita, Kansas.

Position Summary:
The Transfer Station Laborer plays a key role in the daily operations of the transfer station by ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and efficiency of the site. This position involves manual labor, equipment operation, and customer interaction to support the proper handling and transfer of solid waste and recyclables.

Compensation: $17 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct traffic and guide customers to appropriate unloading areas.
• Assist customers with unloading waste materials as needed.
• Sort and remove unacceptable materials from incoming loads.
• Clean and maintain the transfer station, including sweeping, shoveling, and pressure washing.
• Monitor waste flow and report any safety or operational concerns to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work in outdoor environments and in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment:

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions, odors, and waste materials.
• Fast-paced and physically demanding.

Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays.
