Job Summary

As a Software Quality Engineer at FedEx, you will serve as a key technical leader in the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of software testing methods and quality assurance processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of both UI-centric applications and back-end services through a mix of automated and manual testing strategies. This role plays a critical part in enhancing test coverage, maintaining testing infrastructure, and collaborating across teams to ensure timely, high-quality software delivery.

Essential Functions

  • Test Design & Execution
  • Develop, execute, and document test plans for both UI-driven applications and backend services, utilizing a combination of manual and automated testing to validate that solutions meet design and performance requirements.
  • Automation Development
  • Design and develop automated test scripts using modern frameworks and tools. Migrate existing manual test cases into automated pipelines, focusing on reusability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Present testing progress, metrics, and results to development and leadership teams. Provide clear documentation for test coverage, defect identification, and resolution workflows.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the productivity, accuracy, and speed of testing efforts through innovative tools, automation, and process optimization.
  • Environment Management
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot automated test environments within a CI/CD pipeline, ensuring reliable execution and environment stability.
  • Collaboration & Strategy
  • Partner with business stakeholders, architects, developers, and analysts to define data needs, testing scope, and end-to-end strategies. Coordinate and execute functional, integration, system, neighbor, and end-to-end testing.
  • Defect Management
  • Identify and clearly communicate software defects with detailed reproduction steps. Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues and verify fixes.
  • Technology Awareness
  • Stay up to date with the latest QA tools, testing trends, automation strategies, and best practices, and proactively integrate them into existing processes.
  • Additional Duties
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to cross-functional team initiatives or organizational improvement projects.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) equivalent work experience in computer support or information technology environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

General knowledge of hardware, software, and network.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $7,094.23/month - $12,533.14/month
