JOB TITLE: All Mountain Team Coach

DIVISION: SolitudeSki & Ride School

REPORTS TO: Head Coach

LOCATION: Solitude Ski & Ride School

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly

PAY RANGE: $20 - $35 based on certification

POSITION:

The All Mountain Coach is responsible for developing athletes' skills and mindsets towards future competitive programs as well as instilling values and behaviors that will contribute to future success in life. In this role coaches will be working with groups of kids ages 6-17 who are training in intermediate to advanced techniques on blue, black, and double black terrain. The right candidates will display an enthusiastic and professional manner, prioritize safety, and inspire lifelong participation in winter sports.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Available on all Weekends throughout the winter season
  • Advanced level skiing or riding skills and knowledge
  • Preferred Level 1 PSIA certification (or equivalent), Level 100 USSA certification, or Level 100 IFSA certification or the ability to obtain these certifications during the season.
  • Excellent people skills are required to effectively communicate with athletes, parents, other coaches, mountain employees and guests on the mountain.
  • Have high standards for safety in all training environments.
  • Conduct athlete goal setting meetings at start of year and review throughout season.


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct daily training for athletes as directed and scheduled by leadership.
  • Be responsible for on-hill coaching duties.
  • Provide feedback daily to athletes and submit written year end evaluations on each athlete.
  • Communicate any needs to perform job to leadership.
  • Participate in coaches' meetings, briefings, and other professional functions as directed by leadership.
  • Assure that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Support with set up and take down of race venues


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mountain Environment:

  • Be at Solitude Mountain Resort on time on days' work is scheduled.
  • The primary outdoor environment requires tolerance to exposures such as cold, snow, wind, rain, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, extreme terrain, lightning, etc...
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with equipment.
  • Exposure to: Ultraviolet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
