About the Position

The Quality Assurance Consultant ensures that Ameren Transmission (ATX) is committed to excellence in meeting or exceeding the requirements of State and Federal, and Ameren Safety Regulations, Ameren Transmission Substation and Transmission Line Electric Construction Quality Standards, as well as supporting pre-construction activities to maximize the probability of successful project execution. The Quality Assurance Consultant is also responsible for overseeing and coordinating contract inspection services on transmission construction projects. This position will work under the guidance of the Engineering and Construction Supervisor. May also work independently in support of other projects and activities as needed.

Note: This is primarily a field-based position with regular travel to work sites within Ameren's service territory. As such, remote work options are limited. The ideal candidate must reside within, or be able to travel a commutable distance to, the areas listed in the job posting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform, or coordinate and oversee contractors performing, the execution of, field assessments, during the project lifecycle to support ATX in compliance with State, Federal and Ameren, safety and construction quality polices, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop, or contribute to the development of, Construction Sequence Plans (CSPs) and Outage Sequence Plans (OSPs) to support the project schedule development and execution.
  • Perform, or coordinate and oversee contracted resources performing, Constructability Reviews (CR) and/or Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) field reports, including distribution to all necessary internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coach coworkers and suppliers on standards and specifications to improve quality of operations. Document findings and provide summary for review by ATX leadership; assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans (CAPs) as necessary.
  • Perform focused field audits and inspections on both company and contractor personnel to ensure quality of compliance related activities and tasks, including reviewing manual and electronic records.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders during assessments to promote positive results when responding to issues identified/notices of possible violation.
  • Support ATX Operations by ensuring pre-startup procedures have been prepared, completed, and submitted to appropriate parties.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in construction methods and specifications.
  • Assist the Engineering and Construction Supervisor in various activities during planning and execution of construction projects.
  • Assist in the investigation of potential incidents and conduct emergency response reviews with appropriate parties; 24-hour coverage for emergency/incident investigation and response may be required.

Qualifications (Quality Assurance Consultant Level):

  • Associate's Degree in a technical discipline required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Completion of a technical trade program may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience (e.g., electric operations, design or construction) is required.
  • High school or equivalent may be considered with 10 or more years of relevant experience.

Qualifications (Senior Quality Assurance Consultant Level):

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred. Completion of a technical trade program may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience (e.g., electric operations, design, construction) are required.
  • High school or equivalent may be considered with 12 or more years of relevant experience.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • High proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office suite is required.
  • Proficiency and experience with PowerBI, Bluebeam, and ArcGIS is preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting civil and electrical construction drawings is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, and collaboration skills are required.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Self-starter and the ability to perform work autonomously is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Ameren Transmission and Distribution system preferred.
  • Experience supporting external assessments preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge ATX Construction Standards, NESC (National Electric Safety Code), OSHA, and Ameren Safety Regulations preferred.

Additional Information

The Quality Assurance Consultant typically works a standard day shift in an office/field environment conducting assessments. Significant travel may be required throughout the Ameren (MO & IL) service territory to conduct field assessments. Overnight travel may be required at times.

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$86,400.00 - $168,000.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
