POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. The incumbent of this role will effectively coordinate and control projects from concept to post-production. In addition, the incumbent will launch new and modified components of vehicles that ensures timely delivery to deadlines, cost, and quality.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Coordinate all project elements including engineering design, quality. planning, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and final buy-off phases
• Manage the project within budget
• Plan project requirements and resources, including the sourcing of subcontract elements, etc.
• React promptly and effectively to changing client and product needs
• Anticipate any potential project risks, identifying and establishing corrective actions
• Produce deliverables on-time to customer requirements, clarifying these requirements where necessary
• Define the customer specification into either a departmental action or subcontractor order
• Accurately cost any changes in specifications
• Effectively analyze customer and internal changes, including feasibility study
• Produce clear, focused and understandable explanations for change requests
• Track customer changes and participate in customer meetings when required
• Participate in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEAs), Quality history reviews, robustness studies, etc
• Track tasks against the project timing plan
• Assist with design verification and sign off reporting
• Apply specific technical skills as required to support the customer or colleagues
• Proactively seek out opportunities for new or repeat business
• Keep up with current and developing engineering trends
• Undertake special projects as required
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities
• Quality control of work by appropriate reviews
• Work with Quality dept. to establish field test methods; establish methods to monitor quality of field tests and results
• Support and lead process improvement activities
• Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients - Review engineering deliverables through written reports; present progress and initiate appropriate corrective actions throughout the project until release
• Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/ future trends
• Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented. Project tracking and reporting
• Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
• Undertake continuous training and development
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
• Independently determine approach and assigned task
• Understanding of design and production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
• Ability to ensure projects comply with all best practices, applicable rules, regulations, and standards - such as OSHA, ISO, PROP 65

WHAT WE REQUIRE

• Bachelor of Science Engineering or related degree
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience and 2 years of project management experience;
• Working knowledge of Solidworks and AutoCad design software; SAP resource planning software; Microsoft Office proficiency,
• Excellent problem solving and attention to details
• Ability to work independently and with a team
• Strong Customer Service/Interface experience
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Detail oriented with organizational and time management skills
• Proven ability to recognize problems or inefficiencies, and proactively seek opportunities for improvement.
• Good understanding of engineering principles and the aptitude to work within/lead cross-functional teams.
