Job Details

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented apprentice to join our U.S. Public Policy & Advocacy team. This co-op offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public policy, advocacy, and legislative affairs. The co-op will support various facets of our team's needs, including policy analysis, administrative tasks, and project support-right next to the U.S. House of Representatives' House Office Buildings. This hybrid role includes in-person opportunities in our office and on Capitol Hill.

Hours: Full-time

Duration: 6 months

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Support Specialist Role with Administrative Duties (non-email and calendar related):

  • Prepare presentations and create slide decks for team presentations (Specialist, U.S. Public Policy, U.S. Federal Advocacy).
  • Develop "footprint" one-pagers for advocacy efforts (U.S. Federal Advocacy).
  • Facilities List: Exported Data Project (Specialist, U.S. Federal Advocacy):
  • Review and verify asset types (e.g., ensure facilities are correctly categorized such as offices vs. warehouses).
  • Assist the Specialist with communications and organization involving internal teams working to update facility data.
  • Collaborate with IT to create a formalized data export system, potentially developing a website similar to DCC and GNP platforms (Specialist, U.S. Federal Advocacy, Real Estate, Customer Data, IT).
  • Attend Hearings and Industry Briefings: Take notes and draft memos summarizing key takeaways for the team (Full Team). Participate in and take notes for state advocacy coalition calls (State Team). Assist the State Team in facilitating and documenting regular state consultant calls.
  • Federal Policy Support: Assist the Federal Policy team with risk register input. Track and analyze key public policy developments, including executive orders, regulations, legislative proposals, and more.
  • Support for Meetings, Lobbying, and PAC Operations: Input and organize data related to meeting/lobbying/PAC conversations using tracking software or processes (U.S. Federal Advocacy

Education Requirements:

Currently enrolled in undergraduate school with an upcoming completion of a bachelor's degree. Must be able to work 40 hours per week.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Good project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  • Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and can effectively handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
