Department Information

VentureLab, housed within the Office of Commercialization at Georgia Tech, is a nationally recognized startup accelerator that helps university innovators launch scalable, technology-based companies. It also serves as the lead institution and overseer of the NSF I-Corps Southeast Hub, a regional network dedicated to accelerating the translation of research into market-ready solutions through the proven I-Corps methodology. As the Hub lead, VentureLab manages programming, partnerships, and operational oversight across the region.

The Program Manager will play a vital role in supporting the programs management, coordinating activities across institutional partners, assisting with cohort logistics, data tracking, and communications, and ensuring smooth execution of regional innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Job Summary

The Program Manager works with many levels of leadership and staff to manage program efforts based on industry best practices; works as the single point of contact for facilitation and communication of program goals, deliverables, and schedules, and must be an excellent communicator; various levels of documentation will be produced at each stage of the program and the program manager is often the person who creates these with input from others.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Facilitate the creation of program definitions, work breakdowns, rough order estimates, program plans, communication plans, and program schedules and specifications

Job Duty 2 -
Research solutions to program management issues using the appropriate resources; lead short-term, tactical programs of diverse types

Job Duty 3 -
Promote and follow the objectives, priorities, goals of programs through best practices and industry-standard methodologies

Job Duty 4 -
Interact regularly with program sponsors, stakeholders, program teams, and others to determine their needs and use the existing program methodology to develop plans to address these efficiently

Job Duty 5 -
Facilitate or contribute to team or programmatic meetings to communicate program timelines, milestones, and updates

Job Duty 6 -
May participate in and provide information for the strategic planning process at the unit or department level

Job Duty 7 -
Create program artifacts, agendas, presentations, and meeting minutes for program team; Prepare reports and program documentation

Job Duty 8 -
May provide training, guidance, and direction to other staff, especially as it pertains to the use of tools for effective program management

Job Duty 9 -
Perform other job-related duties assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Two or more years of job-related experience

o Project Management Professional - (PMP)
o Certified Associate in Project Management - (CAPM)

Role Specific Responsibilities:

Hub Operations Management:

Develop and implement operational procedures to ensure efficient functioning of the entrepreneurship hub.
Maintain a welcoming and conducive environment for entrepreneurs, mentors, and visitors.
Oversee the utilization of hub resources, including office space, equipment, and facilities.
Entrepreneur Support:

Serve as the primary point of contact for entrepreneurs, providing guidance, resources, and support throughout their entrepreneurial journey.
Conduct needs assessments and connect entrepreneurs with relevant programs, mentors, and resources to help them grow their businesses.
Organize and facilitate networking events, workshops, and training sessions to foster collaboration and skill development among entrepreneurs.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, venture capitalists, and other entrepreneurial support organizations.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for partnership, funding, and resource-sharing.
Represent the hub in meetings, conferences, and community events to promote entrepreneurship and build awareness.
Mentorship Program Management:

Establish and manage a mentorship program, recruiting and matching experienced mentors with entrepreneurs based on their needs and goals.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to mentors and entrepreneurs, ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the mentorship program and make recommendations for improvements.
Data Management and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of hub activities, including the number of entrepreneurs supported, resources utilized, and outcomes achieved.
Generate regular reports on key performance indicators and present findings to management and stakeholders.
Use data insights to identify trends, measure impact, and make data-driven recommendations for program enhancements.
