Supervise plant operating engineers and other assigned personnel who operate all University heating, cooling, and electrical generating and distribution systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises plant operating engineers and other assigned personnel, including timecard approval.
  • Selects and requisitions replacement parts for equipment.
  • Assists and trains in the proper operation of power plant electrical generating equipment, refrigeration equipment, pumps, compressors, and other building mechanical equipment.
  • Determines work required by other trades and sets up necessary work orders.
  • Operates energy management systems, reads and checks gauges, meters, and thermometers.
  • Assists in formulating and carrying out a preventive maintenance program.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications Required:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Four (4) years (48 months ) of work experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment.
    3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in a position comparable to the Steam and Power Plant III.
    4. Possession of the current/valid licenses and certificates, as required by the employing institution.
