Job Summary The Assistant Lane Support SME is an integral part of the Ridge Runner program as they facilitate logistics, manpower, and exercise support within their assigned area of operations. They will coordinate pre-exercise planning, activities and support during execution, and facilitate post-exercise close-out. An ideal candidate must be SMEs in logistics, asset deconfliction, and project management. Each Ridge Runner is unique and Assistant Lane Support SMEs must be able to manage multiple exercises in various stages of planning and execution. Multiple locations: Savannah, GA and Morgantown, W. Virginia. Role and Responsibilities
  • Provide support services for the following departments and sections: WVNG Joint Staff office; WVNG J37, WVNG J3 Joint Operations Center, and WVNG Ridge Runner Program.
  • Provide administrative support to planning and product development for Initial Planning Conference (IPC), Mid Planning Conference (MPC), Final Planning Conference (FPC), and Ridge Runner (RR) exercises.
  • Assist Lane Lead and Ridge Runner staff with coordination between exercise participants (foreign and domestic) and external stakeholders, including other government agencies.
  • Support lane setup, logistical coordination, and on-site execution of training lanes, including engagement with local business owners, city officials, and landowners to secure infrastructure access and placement.
  • Facilitate coordination with federal, state, and local law enforcement, emergency management, and medical services to ensure exercise integration and safety.
  • Distribute event notifications to jurisdictional authorities and property owners; assist in securing appropriate Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Letters of Understanding (LOUs) in support of Ridge Runner objectives.
  • Provide on-site support to Lane Lead for lane safety management and scenario execution.
  • Support delivery of Irregular Warfare (IW) training and program awareness through classroom, online instruction, course preparation, and coordination.
  • Perform administrative functions including scheduling, email and phone correspondence, record keeping, meeting support, and documentation management.
  • Assist in the coordination of foreign visit requests and ensure appropriate access to military installations for international Ridge Runner participants.

Required Qualifications and Education
  • Operational or Executive Support Experience: At least 3 years providing administrative or operational support to senior leaders in high-tempo or mission-driven environments (military, law enforcement, executive, or field operations preferred).
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage calendars, coordinate travel, track logistics, and support complex schedules with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Discretion and Security Awareness: Experience handling sensitive or confidential information with a strong understanding of operational security (OPSEC) and information protection.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams and cultures; comfortable liaising with both high-level executives and ground-level personnel.
  • Problem-Solving Under Pressure: History of anticipating needs, resolving issues proactively, and adapting quickly to last-minute changes in fast-paced or unpredictable environments.

  • Requires field work in varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • Exercise dates vary; must be available for pre-exercise planning calls and on-ground execution.
