Job Summary

UW Health in northern Illinois seeks a BE/BC Podiatrist to join the over 300 employed providers of the SwedishAmerican Medical Group in Rockford, Illinois. The specialist group consists of 4 Podiatrists working in clinics throughout the service area of UW Health in northern Illinois.

Job Duties



  • Examining patients with foot and ankle conditions, such as fractures, ligament injuries, arthritis, and deformities.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, including X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds.
  • Prescribing medications, physical therapy, orthotic devices, and braces for pain relief and mobility improvement.
  • Performing joint and soft tissue injections (e.g., corticosteroids, platelet-rich plasma therapy).
  • Advising on lifestyle modifications, footwear, and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Performing surgeries such as:
  • Fracture repair (fixation of broken bones in the foot or ankle).
  • Ankle ligament reconstruction (e.g., for chronic instability).
  • Bunion and hammertoe correction (for foot deformities).
  • Total ankle replacement (for severe arthritis).
  • Tendon repair (e.g., Achilles tendon ruptures).
  • Minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures for soft tissue and joint conditions.
  • Monitoring recovery and ensuring proper healing after surgery.
  • Collaborating with physical therapists to design rehabilitation programs.
  • Managing postoperative complications, such as infections or hardware issues.
  • Treating acute injuries, such as sports-related foot and ankle fractures, sprains, and dislocations.


Education



  • DPM certification in Podiatric Medicine with fellowship certification or MD, DO in Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Surgery


License/Certifications



  • Active license in the State of Illinois and active DEA license, or the ability to apply for such licenses prior to or upon hire.
