JOB SUMMARY: The Forklift Driver is responsible for the preparation, loading, and unloading of granite materials and moving them through all process steps between raw material and finished product. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: Coordinate with the Loading Supervisor to develop weekly plan, ensuring all customer delivery expectations will be met. Use various overhead cranes to move granite stone as needed. Operate forklift to move granite materials, pallets and crates as necessary to load and unload deliveries from a variety of shipping carriers Maintain an understanding of specific packing requirements for a variety of shipping carriers. Consolidate freight that is being shipped to the same customer, city, or state when appropriate. Use a handheld banding machine and assembled crates or bottoms to bundle shipments in the most cost effective and efficient way possible. Manage and replenish supplies for the shipping and loading area as required. Understand the load capacity and capabilities of the various forklifts used to transport, load, and unload granite materials, ensuring safety and efficiency. Maintain communication with supervisor and production team to ensure an efficient workflow process. Use handheld scanner to record granite materials and their production location in the JDE system as needed. SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Must have a valid driver's license. Must obtain forklift certification (training and certification provided by Coldspring for all employees who may be required to operator a forklift) Strong customer service skills. General knowledge of loading and shipping practices. Knowledge of inventory management. Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings. Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric. Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgement to determine work priority and urgency.
