TRACER is a research initiative based at Fred Hutch Cancer Center focused on accelerating discoveries and treatment options for patients with rare and understudied cancers. We are seeking a creative and driven Social Media Intern to help grow our online presence, engage the rare cancer community, and highlight the exciting research and outreach activities of the TRACER program. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in sciences, communications, public health, digital media, or nonprofit outreach.

This is a remote position that requires candidates to attend in person events.



Responsibilities

Job Duties:

    Conduct background research on various rare cancers, including incidences, molecular markers, survival, etc
  • Create and schedule engaging posts across Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Participate in TRACER events, symposiums, researcher profiles, and patient stories
  • Develop graphics, short videos, and infographics for social media and web use
  • Track social media analytics and report on engagement trends
  • Collaborate with research and advocacy teams to align messaging

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion for science, medicine, advocacy, or public communication
  • Experience with social media platforms (especially Instagram and LinkedIn)
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual content skills
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe, or similar tools (bonus)
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 13 days per year).
