Regional Safety Manager McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Regional Safety Manager with strong Infrastructure and Heavy Civil experience to join our growing construction division. The Regional Safety Manager will oversee all aspects of project-specific safety program on multiple complex construction projects. The person selected for this role will assist project and safety management in the oversight and execution of the project's health and safety standard in accordance with OSHA regulations, governing safety authorities, site-specific safety plans, client expectations, and project goals in a manner that integrates our SEE Safety In Action culture into the project to achieve our goal of zero-incidents. Responsibilities:
- Ensure safety and health policies and procedures are being adhered to in accordance with OSHA, state, and local regulations, and the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that health and safety activities are incorporated effectively into project work plans.
- Provide oversight to subcontractors, clients, and project team members to ensure that project activities are completed according to the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
- Maintain open communication with the Safety Manager and support the projects safety personnel and project supervisors in achieving safety performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with project safety orientation and training needs.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, documenting findings and corrective action completed implemented.
- Ensure emergency response systems, policies and procedures are in place to manage emergency situations.
- Provide mentoring, direction, and subject matter expertise to Project Management, Superintendent, Foreman, supervisors and craft.
- Review JHA's and work plans to with project management and supervision to ensure thorough hazard identification and controls are in place.
- Communicate effectively with representatives of regulatory agencies/customers to resolve compliance issues and provide requested information.
- Support incident investigations and ensure accurate and thorough documentation of root cause, contributing factors, and corrective actions.
- Champion our SEE Safety In Action philosophy to achieve zero-incident project completion.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience and success in a site safety manager, or equivalent role.
- 8 hours of documented annual training for the last 5 years is required.
- OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification.
- Competent Person: Fall Protection, Excavation/Trenching, Confined Space is a plus.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
- CHST certification preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience in lieu of.
- Ability to travel to construction projects as needed (approx. 70%).
- Experience and understanding of the safety and health standards and requirements for heavy civil construction including: Excavation and Trenching, Rigging and Cranes, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Scaffold Safety, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials (Silica, Lead, Asbestos), Working near/over Water, Electrical Safety, Lockout Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Accident Investigation.
- Well versed in legal health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to problem solve and implement hazard mitigation solutions in challenging work environments.
- Excellent communication skill, both written and verbal, to articulate ideas, solutions, needs, and requirements to all levels of employees and to external parties as required.
- Exceptional organizational and motivational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills that enable team building, collaboration, and successful conflict resolution.
- Keen attention to detail and observation ability.
- Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) with the ability to effectively learn and adapt to new software and applications as needed.
Compensation Package:
- Pay Range: $90K - $125K (DOE)
