North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Commercial Credit Analyst in our Credit Department located on our corporate campus in North Raleigh. The Commercial Credit Analyst partners with Market Presidents, Commercial Bankers and Commercial Loan Portfolio Managers and Credit Administration team members to underwrite new credit requests, modifications, renewals and annual reviews. Additionally, assists the Credit Administration Department in collecting and disseminating various credit administration related reports, helps with coordination of credit training, and credit department meetings. This is a hybrid role with minimum of three days a week in office after initial training. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifies, gathers, and analyzes relevant information to assess risk, establishes viability of credit request and sources of repayment, and reviews loan structure to ensure adherence with credit policy and procedures
- Interacts with Market Presidents, Commercial Bankers, Commercial Loan Portfolio Managers and Credit Administration Department to thoroughly understand key commercial credit relationships
- Thoroughly analyzes complex commercial credit relationships and makes sound recommendations.
- Measures the adequacy of cash flow through the analysis of business and personal tax returns and financial statements.
- Clear, concise and timely communication of underwriting findings to bankers for the bankers' use in determining feasibility of origination, renewal or modification of credit.
- Assists in monitoring of the credit portfolio to achieve and maintain desired performance metrics.
- Manages NSF reporting for Regulation O purposes.
- Processes OREO transactions, any loan recovery transactions, and manages related reports.
- Prepares agenda and various monthly reports for distribution to the Board of Director's Loan Committee.
- Manages and monitors various monthly and quarterly reports, including past dues, watchlist loans, TDRs, and substandard loans.
- Collaborates with Market Presidents, Commercial Bankers, and Commercial Loan Portfolio Managers to complete annual portfolio reviews.
- Stays abreast of information on new loan products, industry trends and regulatory changes.
- Helps coordinate any training conducted by Credit Administration.
- Orders supplies for Credit Administration, as needed.
- Performs special projects as necessary.
Qualifications (Includes education, certifications, experience, etc.):
- A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, economics or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One to two years of experience with a commercial bank or a related financial services company.
- Previous lending and/or credit analysis experience in a community bank environment involving the analysis of complex tax returns is strongly preferred.
- Possess and maintain eligibility for NMLS registration.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- A fundamental understanding of federal and state laws and regulations governing credit administration.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and analytical software.
