What is the Opportunity?

The REF Product Owner enables RBC Bank's cross-border real estate financing client experience by executing strategies aligned to RBC Bank's vision of being the market leader in financing Canadian real estate purchases. The REF Product Owner will partner with other team members (Design, CX, Marketing, IT, REF) to understand current and future client journeys and provide a point of view on areas of improvement that will drive impact. The REF Product Owner will support the Director of REF Strategy and Growth to share the vision with internal cross-functional stakeholders, Operations, IT, Risk, Legal, Compliance and Digital etc. to achieve collective results. They will be responsible for creating user/client value while meeting the needs of the various stakeholders. They will participate in the full lifecycle of product development, including ideation, design, development, implementation, and post implementation validation. They will collaborate with Lead Designer, Business Analyst, and Scrum Delivery team to deliver initiatives tied to roadmap. The REF Product Owner will also be responsible for post launch monitoring of the initiatives they have delivered, partnering with the Data and Insights team to synthesize metrics to understand client behavior (i.e. prospect to lead conversion rate, click-through-rates etc.). They will create monthly communication reports to key internal stakeholders sharing roadmap updates, prioritization, and progress.

What will you do?

Contribute to formulating Easy Home Strategy

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the U.S. real estate landscape, market trends, competitive landscape, regulations and customer needs to inform strategy.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance the prospect / client experience creating market-differentiation and positioning the Bank to gain market share.

  • Partner with REF Growth and Strategy Director to develop an optimal acquisition and servicing experience for prospects and clients.

  • Leads planning routines such as product road mapping, value-drop planning, release planning in alignment with Business and Product OKRs

  • Lead Discovery and External Refinement routines to obtain features, requirements (including risk requirements) from cross-functional stakeholders and prioritize in backlog.

Executing Client Experience & Channel Strategy

  • Partner with Director of REF Growth and Strategy to share the vision, strategy, and roadmap to all stakeholders (Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Engineering, Design, Quality Engineering, LOB stakeholders (ops, risk, finance, digital marketing).

  • Provide direction and decisioning on the prioritization epics, and user stories and maintain backlog for Easy Home Journey.

  • Partner with Business Analyst to provide content for user stories including but not limited to value statements, stakeholder requirements, client insights from design research, client scenarios/personas.

  • Partner with RBC HEF partners to identify and pursue growth opportunities and North American value proposition.

  • Partner with Go-To-Market teams (enablement lead, release manager, devops) to develop and execute release and launch plans.

  • Ensure REF experience complies with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal risk management policies through completion of RBC Risk framework (RTAs, PARA, IT Risk Assessments).

  • Coordinate prioritized stakeholder requirements with Vendor teams to ensure smooth delivery of a valuable client experience.

Leadership & Communications

  • Support Director of REF Growth and Strategy to share channel roadmap, initiative vision, and channel performance insights cross organization to obtain buy-in and raise awareness.

  • Create monthly communication reports to share progress on value-drop plans to cross-functional stakeholders, leadership, and external partners.

  • Contribute to building a well-defined product practice by establishing templates, tools, and resources to create key product tools (i.e., product briefs, roadmaps, product vision PowerPoint decks etc.).

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 7-10 years of relevant REF experience with background in the Agile way of working or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with product management tools such as Jira, roadmunk, confluence, figma are required and or equivalent is required.

  • Required: University Degree or Higher (BA, MBA, or equivalent) or related work experience

  • PSPO, CSPO, Certified SAFE Product Owner, ASPO (1or more of the above),

  • Google Analytics or equivalent client analytics tools to view funnel.

Nice to have:

  • Agile Frameworks: Kanban, SAFE, Scrum

  • Design Thinking Frameworks

  • Seasoned real estate professional with deep understanding of regulations, competitors, best in class capabilities, etc.

  • Dynamic leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and lead new initiatives with a proven record to deliver.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills with experience leveraging data to make informed decisions and recommendations.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to tell a compelling story to garner buy-in and support.

  • Established growth mindset and an ability to push, pivot and let go as the environment evolves.

  • Product acumen and knowledge

  • Superior problem solving & analytical skills.

  • Strong strategic business sense & organization awareness
