Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has a new exciting opportunity for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer located at Robins AFB, GA supporting The Agile Combat Support Directorate (ACS) Support Equipment and Vehicles Division.



Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

    Accomplish Engineering Management tasks and interact with lateral AFLCMC organizations or any external agencies required including base facility, personnel, security, computer support, foreign disclosure, foreign travel, public affairs, test organizations and the building managers to facilitate and support uninterrupted day-to-day operations.
  • Assist in providing technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for overall weapons system.
  • Assist in performing engineering activities to include defining system requirements, reviewing vendor designs and technical proposals, researching and developing technical solutions, performing systems functional analysis, conducting trade studies, conducting technical reviews, and performing test and evaluation activities.
  • Coordinate with USG agencies, prototype facilities, commercial vendors, and engineering firms to conduct analyses.
  • Aid in creating engineering documentation and mechanical engineering analyses.
  • Assist in identifying, managing, mitigating, and addressing technical and program architecture risks, including interoperability analysis and risk assessment.
  • Provide support for the integration of current and evolving systems into the weapons system platforms.
  • Provide engineering support involving the application of mechanical engineering principles to determine the business and technical needs of Mission Partners in the acquisition, development or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product.


Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Secret

Education/Experience:

  • Master's or Doctorate Degree in a related field and ten years of experience in the respective technical / professional discipline being performed, five years of which must be in the DoD
  • Or Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, five of which must be in the DoD

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of system life cycle processes, requirements development, and integration of support equipment into broader Air Force platforms.
  • Skills in reliability, maintainability, and sustainment planning for deployed systems.
  • Familiarity with Air Force TOs and the ability to interpret and update technical documentation.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to convey technical and logistical information effectively to diverse stakeholders, including engineers, program managers, and government customers.
  • Working across functional teams (engineering, logistics, contracting) and with external partners like AFCEC or deployed units requires a cooperative mindset.
  • Navigating differing priorities or constraints while maintaining professionalism and mission focus.

Preferred Required Qualifications:

Education: It is recommended that the Contractor have successfully completed an undergraduate degree with a major in engineering from a college or university with an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited engineering program(s) for the degree requirements of the position (e.g., electrical, mechanical, aerospace). Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for these positions.
