Are you a master storyteller, media strategist, and public relations pro ready to amplify the voice of the Court? The Superior Court of California, County of Riverside is seeking a bold and visionary Director of Communications & Public Information to lead its messaging and shape public understanding of the justice system.

Reporting directly to the Court Executive Officer, this at-will executive position leads a dynamic, court-wide communications strategy encompassing media relations, public affairs, civic education, digital content, and internal communications. As the Court's Public Information Officer, you will serve as its spokesperson and primary liaison to the media, government agencies, and the public, promoting transparency and public trust in the judiciary.

Riverside is the fourth largest county in California and the 10th largest in the United States. Human Resources will review applications to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications; therefore, it is to your benefit to include all current and previous related work experience. When listing Court experience, please include dates and classification of each position held, if more than one.

Selection Procedures:

This recruitment will remain open until the needs of the Court have been met and may close at any time. For earliest consideration, please apply by July 14, 2025.

Step I: All applications will be reviewed to identify candidates who meet the minimum qualifications; those qualified candidates will be referred to step II in the selection process.

Step II: All applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will be reviewed by the Subject Matter Expert(s). Successful candidates may be invited to participate in the next step of the examination process.


Step III: Those candidates that are successful in the previous step may be invited to an oral interview either in person or virtually using Zoom. Those candidates who are successful in the interview (weighted 100%) may be placed on the eligible list. Placement on the eligible list is not a guarantee of employment. Additional steps for the selection process may include a drug test, background and reference checks.

Interviews will tentatively take place mid to late August, with a projected start date of late September.
