A vital member of our marketing team, the Marketing Strategist develops, manages and implements school/college strategic marketing plans that increase brand awareness and support recruitment, retention and alumni engagement efforts. Additionally, this role is responsible for increasing the visibility of the school/college and positioning the university brand in the marketplace. The Marketing Strategist stays abreast of changes in the marketing environment to drive plans forward. They are both a strategist and a doer - responsible for developing marketing goals and the strategies that will fuel them, as well as executing and driving the tactics to achieve results.

This position is the marketing and communications leader in their school/college and advises partners on how to develop impactful and differentiating marketing and communications across initiatives and audiences. To accomplish this, the Marketing Strategist is an essential member of a cross-functional marketing team that drives and implements marketing and content strategies in support of institutional goals.



The Marketing Strategist will:

  • Develop and execute school/college marketing and communications plans, in alignment with university marketing and strategic initiatives.
  • Apply marketing trends, research, and technologies in support of the school/college marketing and communication plans.
  • Partner with marketing, creative, web and content teams to execute and implement strategic marketing and communications priorities for the school/college and university.
  • Oversee, implement and manage the strategy for the school's/college's social media channels, in collaboration with the university's social media strategy.
  • Understand and implement SEO best practices across school/college web pages and work closely with the university web strategy team and school/college SMEs to ensure content is current and accurate.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on the effectiveness of all marketing activities to partners, providing clear recommendations based on the data.
  • Create and deliver useful, usable content on Creighton.edu through SEO and UX enhancements.
  • Be a brand ambassador within the school/college to ensure the university's brand message is conveyed, integrated and established.
  • Have excellent attention to detail to ensure the accuracy across content.
  • Learn the complexities of Creighton's schools, colleges and divisions and clearly articulate the value of a Creighton education including the particulars of programs, degrees and services available to students.
  • Write creatively while remaining aligned with our strategic vision and incorporating the brand voice and key messages.
  • Work within established processes to ensure consistent content workflow within the team and proactively contribute to optimizing processes when needed.
  • Bring a relentless sense of curiosity that helps move Creighton University forward.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications or related field is required.
  • 4-6 years of experience, with a proven ability to develop a comprehensive marketing plan and implement best-in-class brand marketing and communication activities.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to use data to drive strategy and monitor and report on results.
  • Knowledge and experience with brand marketing and an understanding of the overall digital media landscape.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with subject matter experts and leaders across campus.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, exceptional verbal and written communication skills, strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, and ability to be a persuasive presenter and effective developer and leader of integrated marketing and communications efforts.
