POSITION SPECIFICS

The Arguelles research team in the College of Engineering, Department of Engineering Sciences and Mechanics, at Penn State is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our lab in the field of ultrasonic testing and evaluation. The position will involve development of a custom in situ characterization system for integration in a cold sintering system.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop LabView VIs to control custom in situ ultrasonic setup, including integration of a laser interferometer

  • Analysis of ultrasonic data with Matlab, including development of custom codes for processing

  • Perform numerical simulations of wave propagation in complex media to assist in custom system development

  • Draft manuscripts from completed research and assist in the review of manuscripts drafted by students in the group

  • Collaborate with students on closely related projects pertaining to wave propagation in complex media

Requirements:

1. PhD in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering or a strongly related field

2. Experience with LabView and Matlab

3. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

4. Strong record of publications in a related area
