The Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement (BLCE) is seeking undergraduate and graduate students for a unique internship opportunity in fall 2025. The BLCE is responsible for enforcing the Pennsylvania Liquor Code while promoting public safety, legal compliance, and community well-being.

Our interns will engage in hands-on work assignments, participate in training sessions and meetings, and gain exposure to both internal operations and external agency networks. Through this program, interns will gain a meaningful understanding of regulatory enforcement in a real-world setting while contributing to our ongoing efforts to protect and serve Pennsylvanian communities. Take advantage of this great opportunity if you are considering a future in law enforcement!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an intern with the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement, you will become familiar with investigative procedures, case documentation, and the steps involved in compliance enforcement. This internship will give you the opportunity to shadow routine inspections and observe liquor code enforcement procedures that are conducted while establishments are closed to the public. You will gain firsthand experience by assisting in the preparation of enforcement case files, warning letters, and citations. This exposure to real cases involving violations of the Pennsylvania Liquor Code will enhance your analytical thinking skills and help you understand the nuanced decision-making behind enforcement actions.

You will learn about the internal operations of the BLCE by observing internal briefings, staff meetings, and training sessions. You will also assist with researching policies, legal updates, and historical cases. Additional duties will include participating in public education efforts and community outreach activities. This internship will provide a purposeful, experiential learning opportunity to help you understand how public policy affects real people and how a career in public service can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
