The Social Media Content Creator opportunity is exciting for a highly motivated and innovative content creator with a strategic mindset and a passion for digital storytelling. This role calls for a creative thinker who thrives on experimenting with fresh ideas, new formats, and engaging series to build meaningful connections.

Responsible for managing the District's social media platforms, including X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, while tailoring content for each channel through compelling copy, eye-catching graphics, and engaging video.

With a strong focus on community building and audience engagement, the Social Media Content Creator opportunity is key in increasing brand awareness, strengthening loyalty, and delivering content that resonates and inspires.

The Role:

As part of the District Marketing and Communications team, you will take on a dynamic role, responsible for developing, curating, sourcing, and creating engaging content for the District's social media platforms. This position will manage the daily operations of the District's social media presence by creating content for various platforms. Whether working independently or with the team, you will use your project management skills and creative strategy to produce high-quality content that resonates with students, employees, and the community at large.

The Team:

The District Marketing and Communications department is an award-winning team of creative professionals specializing in marketing technology, content production, communications, and advertising. The team supports the District Office and Maricopa's 10 colleges, collaborating on projects of all sizes. Each day, our work helps elevate the Maricopa Community Colleges brand and reputation.

Essential Functions

45% - Content Creation
  • Develops, captures, and creates high-quality, visually engaging, brand-aligned, and platform-appropriate social media content, including photos, short-form video, graphics, and written copy for Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Utilizes creative storytelling to highlight programs, student testimonials, news, and Maricopa's brand values.
  • Creates detailed social media kits for PR marketing teams to ensure consistent brand messaging.
  • Drafts social media copy for thought leadership, ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging.
  • Captures dynamic content, including vertical video and photos, and tailor content for various social media platforms.
  • Attends college and District events to capture social media content and post in real-time.

25% - Strategy and Engagement
  • Participates in regular brainstorming, development, and implementation of organic social media strategy, developing content that sparks engagement and helps grow an online presence.
  • Assists with planning and maintaining a content calendar aligned with brand initiatives, news, and yearly higher-education observances.
  • Monitors public sentiment toward the Maricopa brand. Actively engages with followers, responds to comments and messages in a timely manner to nurture online communities.
  • Remains abreast of social media trends and platform/algorithm updates to ensure content remains relevant, aligning strategies accordingly.

20% - Reporting and Analytics
  • Monitors and analyzes key performance metrics and social media insights to refine strategies and optimize social media content.
  • Provides weekly/monthly reports to the marketing and communications team on social media performance, recommending actionable insights.

10% - Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field and four (4) years of advanced journey-level experience in developing, planning, and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects, and campaigns.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above, sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Four (4) or more years of demonstrated, full-time work experience in a social media position.
  2. Four (4) or more years of demonstrated, full-time work experience creating social media content such as written copy, graphics, photography, and short-form video.
  3. Four (4) or more years of demonstrated, full-time work experience using social media management and analytics tools.
  4. Advanced proficiency with creative digital tools and applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Final Cut, and CapCut.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated through a cover letter.


Special Working Conditions

This role will be required to attend and cover off-site District and College activities and events, some of which may occur outside of regular business hours and at college campuses located throughout the Valley.
