The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Engagement (CTLE) provides Glendale Community College faculty opportunities for growth and the means to learn innovative teaching strategies for all instructional environments, and staff opportunities for connection and learning to be most effective in their work. Reporting to the Teaching and Learning Director, the incumbent is a vital member of the CTLE team who is passionate about learning, pedagogy, and technology. A key requirement of this position is instructional design knowledge and skills, as well as the ability to consult with faculty to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students. This includes assisting them in the design of courses, course templates, instructional modules, appropriate learning activities, and assessment techniques and tools. In addition, this position is responsible for creating and implementing professional development learning opportunities supporting best practices of teaching, learning, design, and assessment for all teaching modalities. In addition, this position helps provide regular support to faculty and staff around their learning, technology, and professional development needs in a variety of settings. Essential Functions 25% - Consult and collaborate with faculty on pedagogically sound and effective use of instructional design strategies, web-based resources, multimedia technologies, assessment, AI tools, and instructional systems for course development and improvement using accepted in-person, hybrid and online design standards. 25% - Develop and lead professional development opportunities to promote faculty competencies in high-impact teaching practices, integrating and utilizing effective academic technologies, and emerging topics and innovation. Research emerging industry trends, instructional tools, relevant studies, and current data to guide and drive innovation in the department and college. 20% - Provide on-demand support for faculty and staff regarding their teaching, learning, and technology needs. 10% - Support online learning course design and review courses for their alignment with Quality Matters standards, with an emphasis on accessibility. 10% - Support faculty in their use of Canvas learning management system, related tools and LTIs (Learning Tool Integrations), and other academic technologies. 10% - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, educational technology or related field and four years of experience in instructional design and development, program and systems development and/or assessment and evaluation. OR An equivalent combination the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Desired Qualifications A. Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum, and/or Instruction, or a closely related field. B. Teaching experience in a K-12 and/or higher education setting. C. Experience consulting with faculty on instructional design projects, pedagogies, and/or technologies to enhance learning environments. D. Experience facilitating professional development learning opportunities regarding teaching, learning, and/or technology needs. E. Experience supporting educational technology and/or a learning management system, such as Canvas. F. Experience designing courses based on Quality Matters, universal design or other design frameworks. G. Experience using learning theories, instructional design theory and/or academic assessment techniques. Special Working Conditions
