Character Artist (Multiple Positions), Electronic Arts - Tiburon, a Florida Corporation, Orlando, FL. Create special effects or animations using electronic tools and media for use in video game products. Build geometry of organic and inorganic character models. Complete human character creation of both realistic and stylized figures and capturing nuance of deformations into a highly crafted system of blendshape poses. Integrate assets into the game. Improve character creation across multiple teams within EA. Explore and evaluate new workflows, outsource vendor asset delivery management, track asset delivery, and evaluate asset quality. Work with TechAnim/Tools to create a tool to aid in testing and implement library. Complete data acquisition, including scanning assets for data input and reference, and organize scan content for production. Conduct thorough stress testing. Collaborate with the rigging department to create clean, efficient, and highly polished facial rigs. Work with TechAnim to keep rigs performant. Telecommuting permitted. (CHAR-B-103-FL)
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. EA offers benefits incl. PTO medical/dental/vision insurance & 401(k) to eligible E’ees. Certain roles eligible for bonus & equity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Art, Animation, Design, Visual Development, or a related field and one (1) year of experience as a concept artist or in an art-related occupation.
In the alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Art, Animation, Design, Visual Development, or a related field and three (3) years of experience as a concept artist or in an artist-related occupation.
Qualifying experience must include one (1) year in each of the following skills (which may be gained concurrently):
- ZBrush, Maya, or Substance Painter; - Unity or Unreal Engine; - Digital sculpting, modeling UV mapping and texturing; - Confluence, Jira, Perforce, or similar; and - Real-time modeling techniques, including shaders, PBR, normal, or displacement.
Qualifying experience must also include one (1) year in at least three (3) of the following:
- 3D rendering; - Directing FACS scan acquisition; - Digital texture creation; - Sculpting character or facial blendshape targets; - Transferring digital likeness from video reference to character performance; or - Populating character or facial animation rig with blendshapes.
Any suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.
